Nothing beats the glamor of having let your man wear men's vintage clothing. But take note, vintage clothing is requires a good eye; so, read on:
- When shopping for men's vintage, you will need to take note of the following: quality, state of the fabric, stains and other embellishments. The first thing you need to check is the quality of the cloth--check if the fabric is still wearable. Not the type that tears after 3-5 washings. You will know that by feeling the cloth and by seeing whether there are holes, runs, and damages present on the cloth. You will know the state of the fabric if your man can wear this or not; and, if it is actually worth the purchase.
- Another thing you can do when shopping for men's vintage is to look for stains. Check if there are any stains on the fabric and if that could be removed using a mild detergent or cleanser. If there are stains are light, there are still chances that you can remove the stain using a good detergent. If you see deodorant marks and other stains that have penetrated through the fibers of the fabric, just let the clothing go. Dyeing the fabric is a good option, but if you are not familiar with this method then you should leave this to the experts.
- Last and not the least, when buying men's vintage clothing, check the embellishments and the other important parts of the clothing like zippers and buttons. Some embellishments can add character to the clothing and even if it's a bit worn, this could give the clothing some more edge. But you need to consider which is good and which is a bit tattered and worn. Check the zippers and the buttons. Zippers can be replaced and the same thing for buttons. But take note, that some buttons are customized, looking for a replacement could be a challenge for you. If the item is worth the purchase, then you can always have a duplicate made from a local tailor.
- When taking care of any vintage clothing, always be gentle with it. Use a delicate yet effective cleanser to remove the dirt that has stayed on the fabric. Also, you will need not to use the washing machine. Vintage clothing requires hand washing. The old smell will stay for awhile. What you need to do you sprinkle some baking soda on the fabric. Once you are done you can put lavender (or any preferred scent) scented sachets in your closets to subtly perfume the clothing.
